It's now been almost 100 days since Ken Sim and Lenny Zhou were caught spreading lies about Sean Orr "distributing drugs on Christmas day" to Chinese media and were forced to apologize.
Lenny committed to posting a Mandarin-language video on WeChat, the platform and language he spread the lies in, correcting the record and apologizing. We're still waiting.
We're calling on Lenny Zhou to actually correct the record in Mandarin on WeChat, just like he promised.
The letter you'll send:
Councillor Zhou,
Earlier this year, you released a statement apologizing for spreading disinformation about Sean Orr on WeChat in Mandarin:
“I made remarks regarding other Vancouver city councillors. My comments were based on incorrect information, and for that I unequivocally apologize. I am retracting my statement, and I’ve taken down the video.”
At the time, you made commitments to also post your retraction and apology in Mandarin on WeChat. It's now been almost 100 days, and no such video has been shared.
This is a matter of public trust and integrity. Please do the right thing and apologize to the communities that you misled.
