Earlier this year, COPE entered into a good faith agreement with progressive opposition parties to reduce the amount of mayoral candidates in the field before election day.

But the deadline to submit paperwork is coming up on September 11th and there’s so far been no significant movement on reducing the field.

With the clock ticking, we need to increase public pressure for the remaining parties and mayors to see the writing on the wall, do the right thing, and withdraw candidacies where  necessary.

We’ve heard that people want a clear, unified choice for a progressive Mayor. We know we need to end the People’s Primary and take the fight to ABC.

That’s why as of September 2, 2026, COPE and Stephanie Allen are demonstrating our commitment to Vancouver by withdrawing from the Mayor’s race.

During negotiations earlier this year, COPE pushed for, and won, a commitment from all progressive opposition progressive parties to a ranked choice ballot in mayor elections starting in 2030. This would allow all parties to put forward strong candidates and campaigns until election day without creating the risks of a split causing right wing parties to win.

We’re starting that change now. We've created this ranked "ballot" to show the remaining mayors where you stand.

This is your chance to be heard. Tell all three parties which Mayoral Candidate you think has the best chance to Evict Ken Sim and ABC.

HOW IT WORKS

This is a pressure campaign organized by COPE to give voters a tool to be heard.

This form will send an e-mail to the other parties in the primary which discloses your ranked preference for Mayor.

The letter will include your ranked preference, your name, and postal code, so all parties can verify against the voters list that these are real signatures.

When the parties sit down again next week to bring the primary to a close, we’ll all have heard where the people stand.

Let's end the People's Primary.
