Ken Sim and ABC are a disaster for Vancouver.
We know that they've given $3.8M in money earmarked for affordable housing to rich developers.
We know that the city failed an audit of land transfers, with $60 million or more in lost value to the city.
We know that they fired hundreds of staff, cut climate funding, and paid out $6 million in severance to employees to meet their targets in cuts.
But there is still more that we don't know. The next city government needs to open the books, do a 360 degree review of operations under ABC, and set a course to clean up their mess.
THE PEOPLES AUDIT WILL:
- Open the books on Ken Sim's secret cuts, conduct towards staff, and deals with industry and lobbyists.
- Conduct a city-wide review to identify waste, mismanagement, and decisions made against the public interest.
- Identify why progress towards city goals of affordability, families, renters, and climate have stalled or reversed under Ken Sim, and get back on course.
- Empower the independence of the Integrity Commissioner and Auditor General to hold politicians accountable.
- Reverse Ken Sim's damage to the city - starting with restoring the Renters Office, climate planners, and reversing Sim's cuts to the Empty Homes Tax.
